Fiona & Jared were married at Castle Stuart, by Inverness. This is such a beautiful location. I must admit at one point during the speeches I held the camera up, not to take photos, but to cover the fact I was filling up with the nice things Jared was saying! There wasn't a dry eye in the house!

Dolphins

OK, so not wedding photos, not Dolphins in the Moray Firth! These shots were taken when we were on holiday in Tenerife. This is at Loro Parque in the north of the island. The dolphins just loved doing their thing and needed no encouragement to strut their stuff. It reminds me of watching Collies doing agility. The really clever ones will just get on and do it. I love taking shots like this.

El Teide, Tenerife

We've just returned from a fantastic holiday to Tenerife. The week away has recharged our batteries and it was so good to get some warm weather! Enclosed are some images from Mount Teide, the largest mountain in Tenerife and in all of the Spanish territory. It is also the 3rd highest Volcano in the world, a little fact I didn't know until we were there. I'll be uploading more images from our trip. Our holiday was an experience of the real Tenerife, not the chop 'n' chips & jam rolly polly nonsense you get so often when going abroad!

I have to give special mention to the people at Kings College Chapel as they are very nice people and were very hospitable to myself and Rebecca (my assistant). After horrendous traffic jams the reception was held at the Red House Hotel, Cruden Bay. A very happy day, I was very glad to be part of this wedding.

Stephanie & Christopher came all the way from Nova Scotia, Canada to get married at Stonehaven. I was asked to be a witness and was delighted (& a bit emotional) to have this priviledge. We went to Dunnottar Castle & Stonehaven Harbour for some photos and as you will see from one of the photos there was keen interest. Strichen Concert

Myself and good friend & fellow Photographer Susan Renee organised a photoshoot last Sunday at Pittodrie House Hotel. We were joined by renowned Photographers Trevor & Faye Yerbury; here is a link to their Journal http://yerbury.squarespace.com/ . Trevor and Faye are both multi award-winning Photographers and truly are the best in the business. They are great teachers and very nice people also. In the morning session we had the little girls who were great fun to work with. In the afternoon I organised the beautiful Wendy to come along as well as my sister-in-law Zoe. Susan invited David and Kirsty (who will now be affectionately known as Tinkerbell!). We had a fabulous day and my thanks go to Trevor, Faye, Susan, all the models and Pittodrie House Hotel for allowing us free reign. A big congratulations to my good friend Allan Thomas! This morning he successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest. He climbed Everest to raise money for CLAN. He has a dedicated website where you can follow the latest news, it is here: http://www.climbforclan.co.uk/ . Here you will see the background as to why Allan climbed the highest mountain in the world. You can also make a donation online. He has a target of £50,000 he wants to raise and I know that hitting this target would mean as much to him as successfully climbing Everest. I encourage you to take a look at the site, read the stories and make a donation to a worthwhile cause. Having been to the Himalayas myself I know what it is like coping with the altitude at nearly 5000m, I can't imagine what it is like over 8000m! Well done once again Allan, Shana and I are both delighted for you!

Kirsty - Post Wedding Shoot

Kirsty was a wee star when we did this post wedding shoot. It was absolutely freezing, it was pelting down with rain, it was blowing a gale but she wanted to soldier on. We did the shoot at Tarlair by Macduff. The rock behind Kirsty is called the Needle's E'ee.

A post wedding shoot can be set up any way you want; there is only one rule, that is you have lots of fun! It can be done at any location (within reason!) and it doesn't matter if it's been 5 days, 5 months or 5 years since you've been married. In the USA it's known as 'Trash The Dress'. You don't have to trash it but Post Wedding Shoot sounds much nicer! For more information please contact me.

SWPP Convention

I am on the train to London as I write this. I’m on my way to the SWPP convention which runs from 14th – 19th January. It is the biggest photography convention in Europe and there are a whole range of speakers presenting that I’m really looking forward to hearing. There is a trade show happening at the convention also. I’m looking forward to this as there are a few suppliers that I want to meet. I’m hoping that I can secure access to some products that only a few or no other photographers have access to. On Sunday night is the Awards Dinner, being compeered by Phillipa Forrester. As I have mentioned in a previous post, my Highland Cow photo is through to the final of 2008 Pictorial Photographer of the Year. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

I have had an early Christmas present! After some hard work and with the guidance of Martin Grahame-Dunn, I’m pleased to say I now have my licentiate qualification with the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers. The letters LSWPP will now appear after my name at every opportunity! What does this mean? Quite simply, it means that I am consistently able to demonstrate competent photographic skills. There are many photographers out there, but only a handful that has a licentiate qualification. Accept no substitute! Am I content with this? I am happy to get this qualification but I want more! I will continually invest in my development as a photographer so that my customers will get a service that is second to none.
